Dairy Daze...and Now Beyond

 Last night was the Future Business Leaders of America; Buffalo, MO chapter, induction Banquet.  Ellen was inducted as the president for the 2024-25 school year; her senior year.  Here she is making her acceptance speech.  She was super nervous, but she is going to do a fabulous job, I am sure.  The girl in the black dress, seated next to her and looking at her, was the former president and will be graduating here next week.  There were lots of tears and hugs and whatnot as they all bid farewell to the graduating seniors.   Every year Ellen, and the rest of them, get teary-eyed over their senior friends graduating.  I told her that is a fundamental truth of life; you work your way up from ground floor of one goal to the next; school, jobs or careers, relationships...etc.  The Lord, and time, have a way of sifting out the wheat from the chaff; or the influential from the non-influential, if that makes any sense.  You hang on to the i...

  Yesterday the Future Business Leaders of America club had their district competitions in Bolivar.  Ellen was disappointed that she and her fellow classmate only placed 5th in their competition.  But they got medals for participating.   Plus she had to give a campaign speech because she ran for district secretary.  She was the only one running, but still.  She sweated over that speech because she had to give it in front of over 500 people.  But she did great.  

 Two nights ago we had the above sunset which, as you can see, was one of those where you throw down everything you are doing and run for the camera, or your cell phone, or whatever device you might have to capture it.   These dramatic sky scenes, at least the ones I catch, always seem to happen in fall or winter when there are no leaves on the trees and all looks rather stark and dystopian.  It must be either the weather, the atmosphere or a combination of both.  Or the fact that when there are leaves on the trees I can't manage to capture the same light.  It has been a busy weekend.  For Ellen anyway.  On Friday night in our local town they had a cookie crawl, sponsored by a local business.  You bought a card for $5 at that business, then around the town square were 30 booths set up by other businesses or organizations.  At each booth there were cookies, you could pick one cookie (if you wanted to) and have your card stamped.  Aft...
