Dairy Daze...and Now Beyond

 Happenings from the House of Howard  Ellen has resumed pursuing her interest in playing drums.  Since she has been working this summer she saved up enough money and bought herself an electronic (I think that's what they call them) drum set.  She is faithful to practice every day.  I'm glad she has this outlet because I think it helps with her anxiety and general stress to get in there and whack away at the drums.  She has always loved music, it helps her deal with stress. Since I posted about it on Facebook there have been several people who have mentioned that they had always fancied playing drums, but had never followed through with it. I'm glad Ellen has followed through. It will give her something to occupy her, and something to strive for.   Gary has been super busy working on well repairs the past couple of weeks; seems like almost every day last week he went out to one job or another. I'm thankful he has Doug to help him. They enjoy going ...

 Here I am back with a few updates and random observations. Yesterday we went to Springfield for Ellen's t1d checkup.  It went well.  Then we went to a couple/three places in Springfield. Gary parked in one place and then Ellen and I went our separate ways.  Ellen went to a thrift store; Uptown Cheapskate.  It was OK, but their prices were a bit too "uptown" for second hand clothing.  Ellen says she likes Plato's Closet better.  To me they are both much of a muchness, but Uptown Cheapskate was super spendy.   While Ellen was in Uptown, I went to Hobby Lobby, because I needed doll hair.  Haha...  Walmart has yarn, but just not the colors or types I need.  I love going to Hobby Lobby and just looking down their yarn aisles.  In fact I have only been through about 1/3 of the store because I really have no interest in looking at the other part of the store.  Usually we are in a bit of a hurry anyway.  So I enjoy the ...

 Here several years before COVID, which is how we seem to be timing things now, at our ladies group at church a lady taught us how to loom knit hats.  For some reason this activity charmed me.  I was astounded that I could actually create something usable from simple yarn.  I did some research and discovered there are jillions of patterns and projects on YouTube so I had a family member get me a set of looms, for Christmas I believe, and I took off looming. I wish I had kept a picture of my first couple of hats. For a long time my hats were fairly plain, with maybe different patterns in the looming. I also did dish cloths and scrubbies...etc, and would set up at different vendor events around.  I discovered that quite a few other people did hats and scarves (I have yet to even attempt to make a scarf, I don't know why.) to sell, so I wasn't doing very well at that, though I'd sell other things.   After a year or two I discovered faux fur yarn ...
