Dairy Daze...and Now Beyond

A bit different from the winter sunsets of a couple of months ago.  The grass is green, the trees are starting to get green, and the sun is doing its level best to shine through the clouds. Spring is almost my favorite season of the year. 

 A bright, happy New Year 2024 to all. This was a sunset from last year.  Last week actually.  I think it was the evening after the snow.  I wish I could get the little phone camera to capture the detail, but it was lovely any way.   An interesting note to this.  I belong to a Facebook group called "Love My Ozarks."  The point of the group is to share Ozark history and photos...etc.  But yesterday or day before the moderators announced that they are only going to accept so many sunrise/sunset photos from now on because so many of them were being submitted that it was messing with the algorithm somehow.  Maybe it was starting to only show people the sunsets and sunrises and not show any of the other posts.  In any case, there are over 50,000 members in that group and quite a few of them were offended, a couple even left the group because of it.  I thought it was sort of amusing that people would get so upset.  Two nights ago we had the above sunset which, as you can see, was one of those where you throw down everything you are doing and run for the camera, or your cell phone, or whatever device you might have to capture it.   These dramatic sky scenes, at least the ones I catch, always seem to happen in fall or winter when there are no leaves on the trees and all looks rather stark and dystopian.  It must be either the weather, the atmosphere or a combination of both.  Or the fact that when there are leaves on the trees I can't manage to capture the same light.  It has been a busy weekend.  For Ellen anyway.  On Friday night in our local town they had a cookie crawl, sponsored by a local business.  You bought a card for $5 at that business, then around the town square were 30 booths set up by other businesses or organizations.  At each booth there were cookies, you could pick one cookie (if you wanted to) and have your card stamped.  Aft...

  We all love a good sunset, and the one the other day was very nice.  It had been overcast all day, drizzle off and on.  It wasn't until quite late the sun managed to drop down from behind the clouds and gild everything.  I was out walking the dog and managed to catch this shot looking up K Highway.  The picture isn't as lovely as in person, of course, but still, you get the idea.   But as with all lovely things, the sunset gilding is quite brief.  Here is a picture just a few minutes later. The sun sets fast.  We don't realize it in the moment, but time is fleeting.  Make the most of life.

Another day, another post. At times I can think of a dozen things to post, at other times I can't think of a thing. Today is one of the latter. I try to post things pertaining to the dairy, rather loosely at times I admit, but it is hard because things tend to be pretty dull around here for the most part. Here is a pic of sunset on the dairy a couple of days ago. The wind mill is non-functional except for creating ambiance. It does a good job at that. This scene was much more impressive in person. Not to mention by the time I raced into the house and got the camera it had faded a bit. Well, hopefully by tomorrow I will have something more interesting to post. Thanks for stopping by.
