April 2008

If I do not post on Friday, remember the above date.

That is what is listed as the "Best By" date on the can of the pumpkin pie mix, the contents of which are now baking in the oven, combined with 2 large eggs and 2/3 cup of evaporated milk, all snuggled comfortably inside a homemade piecrust.

We are going to eat it tomorrow, along with the year old turkey that sis-in-law got from her work last Thanksgiving. The turkey has been in the freezer. The can of pumpkin pie mix has been on the shelf for dunno how long. It smells pretty good though.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

For Thanksgiving, I made a completely home-made dulche de liche pie with bananas and whipped cream. I had it after a nice meal not too long ago and it was simply delicious!

Unfortunately, mine was not and finished its life sadly slumped into the garbage can.

Moral of the story and something I new better than to do: Never try a new recipe for holiday desert.

Oh the shame......

anony-yes, that's good advice. I usually try to do a "test run," as it were, with any new dessert before I take it somewhere, or serve it for a special occasion.
