Door Prizes

Yesterday we went to the Preferred Pump Customer Appreciation barbecue in Springfield.  This is the company Gary gets his water well supplies from...well...one of the companies.  Every spring they have a barbecue.  It is a pretty big deal; they have 66 stores all over the US and every year they have two big retreats.  You earn points with every purchase, which you can use as credits to attend one of this trips.  I think they always go to Las Vegas, and then this year there vacation trip is to Aruba.  They have an entire hotel booked for 3 weeks, and you pick the week or few days when you can attend.  They do this for customers and employees alike.  I think if you don't get enough points with them you can pay for it, but I am not sure how that works.  We don't do that big of business to worry with such, and we neither one would be very comfortable anyway, since most of the vacation pictures they show involve alcohol in some way or another.  The other pictures they show of their Aruba trips involve herds of people in swimming pools, including kids.  Ellen was grossed out; she's said something along the lines of; "How gross, you know they are peeing in that pool."  Haha...

Anyway.

We have fun at the annual barbecue.

This year they had a mini horse and a highland cow dressed up and wandering around.

Last year they had a different horse dressed up as a unicorn.  You can't really tell here, but the horse has a dragon outfit on.

They had the face paint, hair decor booth as well.  Ellen has outgrown that...or rather...she now looks at the lines and decides it's not worth the wait.

They did not, in fact, have many door prizes that interested us.  There was a retro record player there with a Taylor Swift album that Ellen would have taken, but alas, it went to someone else.

However, they did have a couple of swinging folding camp chairs.  Ellen has wanted one of these since she saw her Aunt Teresa's when we were camping at Redwood Creek last Spring during our California trip.  When we were looking over the prizes she pointed it out straight off.

Did Gary and I win any of the door prizes?  No.

What did Ellen win?

Pleased as punch she was.  You should have seen her jump with they called off her ticket number and held up that chair.

I managed to win a bird feeder/bath thingy when we played ladies Bingo.  But that doesn't quite compare with a nice camping chair.  I am sure she will be toting it to every camping trip we go on.  It's a two piece, so I wish it had come with some sort of carrying case, but maybe we will find something that would work for it.

Yes! I was more pleased that she won something than if I had won anything myself.
